Loudoun County 250th Rededication

WHEREAS the year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, a nation whose founding documents recognize that our rights are endowed by our Creator; and

 

WHEREAS there is a national call for churches and communities throughout the land to rededicate our country to God; and WHEREAS the Holy Scriptures declare, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12), and call all people to seek God’s wisdom, righteousness, and truth; and

 

WHEREAS our nation’s history reflects the influence of the Christian faith, including reliance upon the providence of Almighty God and the acknowledgment of Jesus Christ as Lord by many who shaped its moral and civic foundations; and

 

WHEREAS Loudoun County, established in 1757, possesses a rich spiritual heritage marked by generations of Christian congregations and faithful believers who have gathered to worship God, proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and contribute to the moral and spiritual life of the community; and

 

WHEREAS Loudoun County is home to churches, ministries, organizations, businesses, and individuals who profess faith in Jesus Christ and seek to live out His teachings in service to others; and

 

WHEREAS Jesus Christ commands His followers to love God with all their heart, soul, and mind, and to love their neighbors as themselves (Matthew 22:37–39), and calls them to be “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13–16), bringing hope, truth, and compassion to society; and

 

WHEREAS this 250th anniversary presents a meaningful opportunity for repentance, renewal, and a humble return to God.

 

NOW, THEREFORE

 

We, do humbly Proclaim this Rededication before God and offer this prayer to Him:

Almighty God, Creator of all things, we come before You to thank You for Your blessings upon our county and our nation and to rededicate this county—its land, its people, its leaders, and ourselves—to You and to Your purposes until the day of Jesus Christ’s return.

 

We confess our absolute dependence upon You and seek Your mercy, guidance, and wisdom for our leaders and our land. We humbly acknowledge our sins and failings, praying for spiritual healing and unity as we repent according to 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." We commit to encourage unity among believers, and, as a part of Your unified Church—the family of God in Loudoun—to seek Your face for guidance and to pray that this county would become a place of Your glory. We acknowledge Your Divine Providence and firmly rely upon Your grace, to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8), loving our neighbor and showing compassion to the poor, the sick and those in need (Matthew 25:35–40); and to uphold righteousness, truth, and moral integrity in our homes, churches, workplaces, and civic life; and We reaffirm our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and commit ourselves to living according to His Word; and to pray fervently for our nation, our Commonwealth, and Loudoun County (1 Timothy 2:1–2); May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in Loudoun County, as it is in Heaven
