When God Highlights a Moment: Celebrating What He Is Doing in Loudoun County

There are moments when we gather simply to celebrate, but leave knowing we have witnessed something more.

The July 250th Land Dedication gathering outside the historic Leesburg Courthouse was one of those moments. As believers, pastors and community members came together to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we also had the opportunity to celebrate something happening right here in Loudoun County: the Body of Christ coming together in unity and seeking God for our county.

Among those gathered was Kathy Galvan, a frequent volunteer with Loudoun Awakening events and a faithful prayer partner currently serving on the Loudoun Awakening Prayer Team. Kathy reflected on the day and the moments she believes God highlighted during the gathering:

“What a highlight it was to gather for Loudoun Awakening’s [250th Land Dedication] 3rd of July event, celebrating America’s 250 years! Right outside the historic Leesburg Courthouse, we witnessed the Lord’s participation in our event. Aside from the good turnout, great worship time and a historic gathering of pastors from Loudoun County, He was at work showing us His presence and speaking to our hearts.

At one point, the order of the speakers changed abruptly. The pastor reciting Scripture read from 2 Chronicles 7:14: ‘If my people, who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’ As he was reading, the historic courthouse bell, which was rung in 1776 during the reading of the Declaration of Independence, rang out. We turned to one another in disbelief at the timing — as if God was highlighting the text for us!

Shortly thereafter, during another presentation, some police cars and firetrucks were lit up with lights as they escorted a small band of young flag-waving men right by the courthouse grounds. Someone told us that they were part of a larger ‘relay’ group which started on the West Coast and passed the flag across America on foot, with this group being the last to carry it to D.C.! And, again, it happened during our gathering and felt like another highlight marker of the Lord! What a memorable celebration!”

Celebrating What God Is Doing

Moments like these give us reason to pause and celebrate. Not because we want to assign meaning to every unexpected moment, but because they remind us to pay attention to what God may be doing among His people.

The gathering brought together pastors, churches and believers from across Loudoun County in worship and fellowship. It was another expression of a growing desire to see the Body of Christ united — not around a particular church or ministry, but around Jesus and a shared desire to see God move throughout our county.

We are excited about what God is doing in Loudoun County.

We are grateful for every pastor who is willing to gather, every church that is praying, every believer who is seeking God and every person who is willing to believe that revival can begin in the hearts of God's people.

And we are especially excited because the story does not end with one gathering.

There is more to come.

More opportunities to worship together. More opportunities to pray together. More opportunities to encourage one another. More opportunities to serve our communities. And more opportunities to seek God for revival in the hearts of those who live, work and worship across Loudoun County.

We don't know exactly what God will do next. But we are excited to watch, pray and participate in what He is doing.

The Body of Christ is gathering. God is at work. And there is much more ahead.
