When your church sponsors a day of prayer, you join with other churches and ministries in seeking the Lord for a movement of His Spirit across Loudoun County. Together, we pray for our families, churches, leaders, schools, neighborhoods, and communities, asking God to soften hearts, transform lives, and bring the fear of the Lord, resulting in wisdom, righteousness, and spiritual renewal.
Our History
Lift Up Loudoun began on the National Day of Prayer in 2025 when 12 churches committed to covering one designated day each month in prayer for Loudoun County.
Since then, the ministry has grown to include 27 churches and ministries, including Tree of Life, Mosaic Virginia, and FCA. Three additional churches have committed to participate and will be added to the schedule once their monthly prayer day is established.
Our vision is to see every day of every month covered in prayer by churches across Loudoun County.
How It Works
The commitment is for one year, beginning on one National Day of Prayer and continuing until the next.
While we do not expect pastors or church leaders to personally participate each month, we do ask that the church's leadership authorize and support the prayer initiative.
Beyond that, each church is encouraged to implement its designated prayer day in whatever way best fits its culture and existing ministries. Every congregation is unique, and we want this ministry to strengthen—not complicate—what God is already doing within the church.
Examples include:
One church has incorporated its county prayer time into the weekly church staff meeting.
Another church has approximately 50 youth participating in prayer.
Another devoted an entire Sunday service to praying for Loudoun County.
Many churches simply incorporate their designated day into an existing prayer ministry or prayer team.
Prayer Points
Participating churches receive prayer points that provide guidance for praying over Loudoun County. These include prayer for:
The Church
Pastors and ministry leaders
Local government officials
Families and marriages
Children, youth, and schools
Those in need
Spiritual transformation throughout Loudoun County
Throughout the year, additional prayer requests are shared to address current needs. Last year these included prayer for summer outreaches, mission activities, Vacation Bible Schools, and students returning to school in the fall.
Updated prayer points for the coming year will be distributed this month.
Monthly Communication
Each month, participating churches receive an email containing:
The monthly prayer calendar
Updated prayer points
Any special or time-sensitive prayer requests for the county
